Frequently asked questions
All our raw products are human grade and DEFRA tested at an UKAS accredited laboratory to be free of harmful bacteria such E.coli and salmonella. This makes it safer than raw meat that you buy from the supermarket. It should still be handled with the same precautions as any raw meat, and utensils should be washed after use. Food should be defrosted in the fridge and NOT at room temperature.
Our foods are safe to refreeze up to 48 hours after thawing. If your food arrives partially defrosted it is safe to refreeze. We do not replace or refund frozen goods that have arrived within this window, in line with our delivery terms.
If you encounter any issues with your order or if any items are unsatisfactory, please contact us, and we will address the problem as efficiently as possible.
Please note that we cannot accept returns on frozen, raw, or perishable goods, as these are exempt from the right to cancel, unless the goods are faulty.
Yes our foods are 100% natural and suitable for all ages. If your puppy is under 3kg in weight, we recommend using our Pure Green Beef Tripe mince until they weigh over 3kg, and then gradually introduce new flavours each week.
Yes cats can eat all of the products that are 100% meat based. Those with fruits or superfoods are not ideal for cats as they are obligate carnivores. If your cat is new to raw feeding you should start with varieties that are lower in bone until they get used to the bone content. Our foods contain MINCED bone, not powdered, so you will find bone pieces up to 8mm.
If you feed a varied raw diet that includes approximately 10% bone and 10% offal, and ideally include some fish or fish oils weekly, you do not need to supplement. Every pet is different though, so if you feel they are lacking in something we can advise you how to support them.
Our minces and chunks are labelled ‘complementary’ as they do not meet FEDIAF (European labelling) guidelines. This is because we do not add any synthetic vitamins, minerals or additives. These guidelines can only be met with additives. The minces labelled 80/10/10 are considered complete in the raw feeding world.
We have been looking at what we put into our bodies for many years now. Dedicated pet owners are also starting to question what we feed our beloved pets. Raw feeding is going back to basics, but in a good way! Domestic dogs have a natural carnivorous bias and have evolved from a carnivore. Raw feeding is considered a species appropriate diet that is not highly processed, heat treated or with additives.
Feeding a varied and balanced raw diet that includes meat, bone and offal may help reduce the risk of many health problems that domestic dogs suffer.
Feeding veg or fruits as part of a raw diet can be beneficial to some dogs, but it is not essential if you are feeding offal regularly. Some veg and fruits are better than others, such as berry fruits and greens. The nutrients these foods provide are more easily accessed if lightly steamed to break down the cellulose fibres.
Dogs that are prone to unwanted weight gain may have a higher veg content to help them feel full and reduce calories.
Some dogs are better without veg in their diet, such as those prone to yeasty skin or ear infections.
80/10/10 is the percentage ratio of muscle meat, bone and offal in a mince and is considered ‘complete’ in raw feeding. These minces are the easiest way of meeting your dogs needs without too much work.
You do not need to feed 80/10/10 every meal as a varied raw diet will give balance over time, but this ratio should be a guide. Some pets benefit from a slightly higher or lower bone content.
All minces contain a percentage of bone, except for Pure Green Beef Tripe.
Because we don’t want to discourage the kibble feeders from giving us a try. Our kibble is a high quality dry food, with a high fresh meat content at the top of the ingredients list, it’s grain free with minimal filler ingredients and ‘easy to digest’ carbs. But if you want to give raw a try, we are here to advise on the best way to swap.
